M. Darlene Stiving Obituary

M. Darlene Stiving, age 79, died Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Galion Community Hospital in Galion. 

Born February 27, 1941 in Shelby to Woodrow G. and Marian Arlene (Prosser) McClurg she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. She was a 1960 graduate of Shelby High School. Darlene was owner operator of the Knit and Nook Shop and The Happening maternity shop in Shelby. She was employed as a real estate agent with Tom Mattox and the Hancock Agency and owned and operated the Dari Bar in Galion for over thirty years. She had volunteered with 4H as an advisor of the Broken Arrow Club and served as a president of the Barn Raisers organization. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. 

Darlene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, collecting antiques, watching  the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. Most importantly, she looked forward to time spent with her family especially her grandchildren. 

She is survived by two sons Shannon Bailey of Columbus and Stacy (Laura) Stiving of Shelby; two daughters Tammy (Gary) Johnson of Shelby, Rachelle (Mike) Wilson of Bellville; two step-sons Randy Stiving of Shelby and Rick Stiving of Colorado; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters Carol Winely of Mooresville, IN and Linda Fitzsimmons of Hoosick Falls , NY; one brother John Patrick McClurg of Martinsburg, W. VA;  nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.  

She was preceded in death by husband Richard W. Stiving; aunt and uncle Lester and Pat Griffith and cousin Polly Neer. 

Private family funeral services will be held at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Pastor James Robinson will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to: BarnRaisers Organization Fund,  2787 Lutz Ave., Mansfield, OH 44903.
