Marilyn Sue Reith age 65, resident of West Salem died Friday, September 17, 2021 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Born April 27, 1956 to Homer and Dorothy (Rupp) Pifer in Shelby, she has been a resident of West Salem for 34 years and previously resided in Wadsworth for 10 years. She was a 1974 graduate of Shelby High School and attended The Ohio State University where she received a Bachelors degree in Education. Marilyn was a home economics teacher for Wooster City Schools and retired after 28 years. Her goal was always to somehow make a difference in the lives of young children.
She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in West Salem and her faith was the most important to her. Spending time with her husband and family was her greatest joy and she loved traveling with them. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking. Marilyn's dream was to live in the country. With the love of her life, her husband, they were able to make this dream come true and purchase 100 acres of "Heaven on earth". She was passionate about everything on the farm and looked forward to sharing it with family, friends and members of the community. Marilyn will be forever remembered and missed for her welcoming, caring, and kindhearted personality.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Fred, their two children Michael (Kristan) Reith of Medina, and Katie (Nevin) Morgan of Wadsworth; seven grandchildren Sean, Reagan, Aubree, Milena and Lincoln Reith, Charles, and Alexandra Morgan; one grandchild on the way; one brother Ken (Cheryl) Pifer of Kettering and many other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother Michael Joseph Pifer.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Thursday September 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Jim Schmitz officiating. Interment will take place at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby. A gathering to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held following the Burial, 2:00 PM Friday at their farm. Friends and family are welcome to attend and eat, drink and share stories.
