Marjorie Pearl Curren, age 95, resident of Shelby, Ohio, died May 27, 2021, in Orlando, Fla.
Marjorie was born Dec. 4, 1925, to Charles and Edna Mae (Rettig) Sloop in Galion, Ohio. She was a 1943 graduate of Galion High School and a resident of Shelby for most of her life. Marjorie was a homemaker and member of the Nazarene Church where she taught Sunday school and served as Missionary President. She enjoyed rug hooking and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Curren of Shelby, Ohio, and Philip (Kim) Curren of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren, Paul Eric Curren, Ryan (Jennifer) Curren, Morgan Curren, Julie (Don) Baker, and Charlie (Kate) Curren; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Curren, Jaxon Currenand Mya Curren; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul G. Curren; sister Dorothy Godfrey; infant sister Ruth Elizabeth Sloop; son Paul G. Curren II; son Thomas Curren; and great-grandson Hudson Lee Curren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021, at The Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery with Pastor Russel Yoak officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
