Mary "Kitty" C. Tedrow

Mary (Kitty) C. Tedrow, age 87, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center following a short illness.

Born March 11, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Arnold and Mary (Heiland) Reith. She had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. A 1952 graduate of Shelby High School, Mary had worked at Shelby Seamless Tube as an office clerk for numerous years before being employed with Caring For You.  

Mary had been a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Daughters of Isabella and the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. She served on the Altar and Rosary Society and was the recipient as the woman of the year in 2020. As president of the Garden Club, Mary had a green thumb, and won multiple awards and ribbons for the plants and flowers she entered in numerous competitions. She was also a proud recipient of the Jesse Rath Award. She had been an avid sewer and had volunteered her time for the Shelby Helpline for years until she became ill. Mary had a kind heart, and had opened her home to numerous exchange students over the years.

She is survived by her four children Mark (Angie) Tedrow, Lori Ann (Patrick) Crossen, Paul (Karen) Tedrow  and David (Lisa) Tedrow; grandchildren; Aaron (Danielle Murphy) Tedrow, April (Joel) Smith, Jack Parrish, Nicole Crossen (Mark Robinson), Zachary (Alexandra) Crossen, Tyler Crossen, Dustin (Katti) Morley, Christopher Tedrow, Brandon Tedrow, Courtney (Andrew) Arnett, Summer (fiancé Josh Fisher) Tedrow, Noah (fiancé Kaitlyn Fairchild) Tedrow, Isaiah (Tymber Hetsler) Tedrow; great-grandchildren Caiden Murphy, Quinn Tedrow, Lilyana Smith, Rylee Smith, Chelsea and Ben Crossen and their mother Jessica Kronk, Natalie Coldiron, Nicholas Crossen, Claire Crossen, Jocelyn Morley, Stephen Morley, Toby Morley and Nevaeh Tedrow; a sister Jeanette Lindsay, one special exchange student whom she considered a son Fernando Queiroz from Brazil , numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Delbert E. Tedrow in 1987, whom she married June 25, 1955,  a brother Robert (Betty) Reith, grandson Nicholas Crossen and brother-in-law Russell Lindsay.

Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 8:00PM.

A Funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30AM from Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
