Melvyn S. Hawk age 72, resident of Shelby died Sunday morning July 15, 2018 at Ohio Health Mansfield.
Born October 19, 1945 in Bridgewater Somerset, England to Wilbert and Peggy (Watkins) Hawk, he had been a Shelby resident all of his life. A 1963 graduate of Shelby High School, Melvyn had worked at R.R Donnley for 43 years, before retiring in 2003.
Above all Melvyn was a devoted son, brother, uncle and great uncle, enjoying time spent with everyone as often as possible.
Throughout his years he loved to travel, enjoying extensive trips to much of Europe including his home country of England, Disney World in Florida, Canadian Rockies, Alaska, Tennessee and Missouri. Melvyn once enjoyed bowling, golfing and played on several leagues. He also loved watching his Ohio sports teams. He was a devoted member of the First United Church of Christ in Shelby and supported many local community programs sponsored by the church.
He is survived by his siblings Dwight (Cheryl) Hawk, Geraldine Uplinger, Tom (Pam) Hawk all of Shelby and Mary Jo Hawk of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday July 18, 2018 from 5:00-7:00PM.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor James Robinson will officiate with interment held in Mansfield Memorial Park.
