Nancy L. (Gates) Allen Bloom, age 84, a resident of Shelby, died Sunday October 17, 2021 at her home.
Born March 13, 1937 in Shelby to Charles William and Frances Gale (Phelps) Gates, she had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1955 graduate of Shelby High School, she was a former employee of the AMF Corp., RR Donnelley's, the Shoebox, Rite Aid and Cornell's IGA. She was a member of the Church of God and during her lifetime she enjoyed reading and playing cards.
Survivors include; two sons, Richard Allen of Minnesota and Todd Allen of Shelby; grandchildren, Aaron Allen, Laura, Steven, Nicholas Allen and Austin Allen; one sister, Rebecca (Bob) Snowden of Shelby; special neighbors Mike & Jamie Fuller; two step-children Brian and Mandy; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and her beloved cat Precious.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carmen G. Allen in 1957 two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara (Charles) Perry and Charlene (Jack) Staton; one brother, Diamond "Sonny" Gates and previous husband Francis Bloom.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby 3:00 - 5:00 PM Friday, October 22, 2021. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 5:00 PM from the funeral home with Pastor James Robinson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
