Nancy Ellen Melick, age 79 died Tuesday, April 9,2024 at Ohio Health Hospital in Shelby with her loving family by her side.
Born on August 6,1944 in Shelby to William David and Mary Frances (Schatz) Close, she had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1962 graduate of Shelby High School, she was a homemaker, and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer with Shelby Helpline Ministries and Fish and the Salvation Army.
Nancy was a devout Christian woman who enjoyed attending church services. She liked shopping, reading, and cleaning house. Nancy most of all looked forward to spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her loving husband David William Melick whom she wed on March 28, 1964; one daughter Karen (John) Knapp of Wooster, OH; two sons Mark (Donna) Melick of Fort Gay, West Virginia; and Andrew (Jennifer) Melick of Shelby; five grandchildren; Tyler, Danielle, Debbie, Phillip, and Daniel; two great granddaughters Reagan and Willow; sister, Janet (John) Asaro of Rancho La Costa, California.
In addition to her parents, William and Mary, she is proceeded in death by her brother Larry Close in 2018.
Per the families wishes, services will not be observed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for close friends and family.
