Richard Lloyd Hawk

Richard Lloyd Hawk, 89, of Shelby, died on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Brookwood Bretheren Care Center in Ashland surrounded by his loving family. 

Born September 6, 1932, in Lodi Township, Athens County, Ohio to the late Clarence and Mary (Beckett) Hawk, Richard graduated from Shade High School in Athens County in 1950. He then served in the Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1950 until 1953. Richard earned his barber's license and worked as a barber for ten years before he became a mailman. He spent most of his adult life in Shelby and retired from the United States Postal Service. 

Survivors include Richard's two sons, Aaron R. Hawk of Shelby, and Morris L. (Carrie) Hawk of Chagrin Falls; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Benjamin, Celia, and Theodore. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann (McKart), whom he wed on January 19, 1962, and twelve siblings. 

Family and friends are invited to visitation at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will then begin immediately after the visitation with Pastor James Robinson officiating. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery following the services. The Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Squad will provide military honors at the cemetery.
