Robert Sutter Obituary

Robert E. Sutter age 86, resident of Mansfield, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Avita Galion Hospital, following a brief illness.

Born March 1, 1935 in Shiloh to Gail and Martha (Young) Sutter, he had been a Shiloh resident for the majority of his life before moving to Mansfield in 2006.

A 1953 Graduate of Shiloh High School, Robert had worked as a tool and die maker for the Shiloh Corporation for 46 years, where he eventually became the Vice President. Robert was a member of the NRA and had enjoyed farming, doing yard work, wood working, and trap shooting. He loved spending time with his friends on Thursday mornings golfing, as well as vacationing at his home in Florida.

He is survived by his wife Ruby Patrick Sutter, whom he wed November 22, 2006; three children, Robert (April Isaac) Sutter of Shiloh, Thomas (Kim) Sutter of Blooming Grove Twp., Dawn Shepherd of Shelby; two step-children Randy (Jenny) Patrick of Shelby, Stephanie (Greg) Hummel of Shelby; daughter-in-law Cheryl Patrick; 12 grandchildren Rachel (Ben) Slone, Bridget Sutter, Wyatt “Gus” Sutter, Chad Shepherd, AJ Shepherd, Cory Shepherd, Sara Hall, Hollie Patrick, Joshua (Niki) Patrick, Japheth Patrick, Tristan Hummel, Morgan Hummel, Camryn Hummel; five great-grandchildren Emery Slone, Beckett Slone, Brynn Hall, Jacob Hall, Harvey Patrick; three siblings Dick (Donna) Sutter of North Fairfield, Jim (Jan) Sutter of Shelby, Patrick Mitchel of Shenandoah; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister Jeanette Ross; step-son Gregory Patrick; previous wives, Betty Sutter, who was the mother of his children and Lucille Sutter; brother-in-law Bob Mitchell.

Per Roberts wishes, calling hours will not be observed. A private Graveside service was held with Pastor Doyle Peyton officiating.
