Robert E. Winck, age 93, died Monday, June 10, 2019 at his residence in Shelby. He was born December 28, 1925 in Hopewell Township, PA to Marshall Floyd and Mary Ruth (Fletcher) Winck. Robert had been a Shelby resident since 1949 after moving from the family farm in Breezewood PA. He was a 1944 graduate of Everett High School in Pennsylvania and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. When he first moved to Shelby Robert was employed at the Shelby Spring Hinge Company. He then took employment with the Ohio Steel Tube Co. from 1954 to 1988, where he retired after 34 years as an assistant purchasing agent.
He was a member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge F.&A.M #350 and a member of the American Legion Post # 326. Robert was an avid bowler and woodworker and had an interest in model trains. He took great pride in caring for his lawn, home and his cars. Robert loved his trips to Amish Country which reminded him of his home in Pennsylvania. "Father Winck" enjoyed the Ohio State vs. Penn State and Browns vs. Steelers rivalries with his sons-in-law over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially looked forward to giving his granddaughters the special presidential quarters he collected for them.
He is survived by daughters Sherrie (Greg) Williams of Shelby OH and Debra (Ryan) Smith of Dublin OH; three grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah and Sydney Smith; sister Shirley (Bob) Felton of Everett PA; his special friend, Bonnie Potts; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he is proceeded in death by his wife of 49 years Agnes (Gutshall) Winck who passed in 2007.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday June 14, 2019 at Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Pastor Russel Yoak will officiate with internment at Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in c/o the Shelby Park Fund, 43 W. Main St., Shelby, Ohio 44875.
