Roger L. Roberts, age 64, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at OhioHealth Mansfield, after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 25, 1956 to John and Mildred (Gregory) Roberts Sr. in Shelby, he had been a lifelong Shelby resident. Roger worked for the Shelby City Street Department for over 30 years, retiring as the Assistant Superintendent. He was a former member of the Coon Hunters Club.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and taking drives looking for hawks, eagles and deer. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and camping at Lake Wapusun with his wife. Roger was a great man, and will be remembered for his warm and loving heart.
He is survived by the love of his life, his soul mate, Terry (Ferguson) Roberts, whom he wed August 13, 2013; two daughters, Tina Hicks and Maggie (Steve) McNutt both of Shelby; four step-children Senica Bricker of Mineral City, OH, Destry (Taffy) Ferguson of Mansfield, James Ferguson of Mansfield and Tommy Tolliver of Orrville, OH; five grandchildren, Jayden Hicks, Jenna Hicks, Bailey Padisak, Tessa Reed, Lorelei Reed; 14 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Mills and Karen Copley, and his brother John Roberts Jr.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A private family funeral service will take place 10:30 AM Wednesday with live streamed services via Barkdull Funeral Home's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BarkdullFH.
