Rosemary Riley Obituary

Rosemary Riley, age 89, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home in Mansfield. 

Born October 15, 1934, in North Auburn, Ohio to George and Blanche (Fisher) Schmitz and was raised by her adopted parents Urban and Stella Fisher, she was a lifelong area resident. 

A 1953 graduate of Villa Maria High School, Rosemary was a homemaker all of her life. Rosemary was a member of several social clubs in the area, including The Red Hats, and Daughter of Isabella. She enjoyed sewing and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Surviving are her four children, Kevin (Connie) Riley of Shelby, Marianne (Mark) Cooper of Shiloh, Brad Riley of Des Moines, IA and Maureen (Daniel) Zupnick of Dublin, OH; seven grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Riley of Salt Lake City, UT., Stephen Riley of Shelby, James Kempf of Grove City, OH., Benjamin Kempf of Ashland, OH.; Brianna Riley of Des Moines, IA, Sydney Zupnick of Dublin, OH, and Riley Zupnick of Dublin, OH; two great-grandchildren Branson and Axel Riley; and one sister Agnes Heydinger of Rock Hill SC.

In addition to her biological and adoptive parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years, James Riley; infant daughter Mary Ellen; 6 brothers Paul Schmitz; Ralph Schmitz, Edger Schmitz, Robert Schmitz, Bernard Schmitz, Cletus Schmitz; and one sister Rita Boeckman.

A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, February 19, 2024, from the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, at 29 West St. in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with internment in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Help Line Ministries at 29 1/2 Walnut St. Shelby, OH 44875 or the Avita Health Hospice at 1220 N Market St, Galion, OH 44833.
