Vincent Takos age 82, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at his home in Mt. Vernon.
Born August 27, 1936 in Shelby to Michael J. & Eleanor (Heiland) Takos, Vincent lived in Fredericktown the majority of his life. A 1954 graduate of Shelby High School, he worked at Krogers, where he was the head meat cutter for several years, from the age of 16 until his retirement 50 years later in 2000. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and the Silver Sneaker Rehabilitation group both in Mt. Vernon.
Vincent loved to watch his grandchildren's sporting events, The Ohio State University basketball team as well as the Cleveland Browns and Notre Dame Football.
He is survived by four daughters, Patti (Tom) Scott of Mt. Vernon, Susan Ramey of Bellville, Michelle (Keith) Vipperman of Mansfield and Lynne Schwaner of Lexington; step son, Roy (Carol) Dean of Chatfield; step-daughter, Delores Dean of Fredericktown; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren with two on the way; sister Diane Lewis of Monroeville and brother Dick Takos of Shelby; three sister-in-laws, Shirley (Robert) Stehling of North Carolina, Donna Takos of Shelby and Alice Cramer of New Washington;
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris (Marshall) Takos in 2017; grandson, Craig Vipperman and two brothers Kenneth and Richard Takos.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, December 17, 2018 the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment held in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday two hours prior from 1:00-3:00 PM.
