Wendell Lyle Amstuz, age 87, resident of Shelby, died Friday, January 14, 2022, at his home.
Born November 12, 1934, to Lester and Margaret (Swartz) Amstutz in Crawford County, Ohio, he had been a lifelong area resident. Wendell graduated from Tiro High School and served in the U.S. Army.
He worked in the construction business his entire life, and co-owned both Cedar Bay and Little A Construction. Memberships include the Shelby Owls Club Nest 2553, Shelby Country Club, and the Shelby Moose Lodge 422. Wendell was an avid supporter of Shelby Athletics. He was a great carpenter and loved making things for his family. He enjoyed golfing and being outdoors.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Naomi (Burky) Amstutz; children Tammy (Todd) Armintrout of Shelby, Wendy (Todd) Schreck of Medina, and Tim Amstutz of Shelby; grandchildren Justin (Nicole) and Jessica Armintrout, Mason (Ally) and Evan (Cailee) Schreck, and Allie and Nick Amstutz; great-grandchildren Harper, Parker, Carter, Charlie Armintrout, and Bailey Schreck; sister Shirley Stine; and many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by six brothers, and five sisters.
Per Wendell's wishes, funeral services will not be observed.
