Why Advance Plan my funeral?

Advanced planning one's funeral is a gesture of love and concern for your family. If planning your own funeral today seems difficult to think about, imagine how hard it will be for your loved ones to plan for it at the time of need.

Your family can be relieved of making major financial decisions during a time of great emotional stress. By planning ahead for your funeral, you'll also gain the peace of mind that comes from knowing your wishes will be carried out.

Make your wishes known

Advanced planning can be as simple as putting your wishes down on paper and instructing family members where you wishes are kept. We at Barkdull Funeral Home can assist you with this first step in planning by offering you a Gift of Love guide booklet.

Funding at today's costs makes sense

You may also choose to prefund your funeral arrangements saving your family the burden of paying, as well as planning. This can also protect yourself and your family from inflating funeral costs.

For those families faced with a Medicaid spend-down, which only allows a maximum of $1,500 worth of assets, prepaying allows the family to take care of the funeral financing without it being considered an asset to the Medicaid recipient.
