Allan Armstrong

Allan L. Armstrong, age 75 died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in his home. 

Born March 9, 1942 in Shelby, Ohio to Rodney and Wanda (Gallentine) Armstrong, he had been a Shelby resident for the majority of his life.  Allan was a 1961 graduate of Shelby High School and was a Veteran of the United States Air National Guard.  He was currently employed with Arcelor-Mittal as a Crain Operator for the past 53 years.

Allan was a  member of the United Steel Workers Union and a former Shelby Little League coach. He had been a gun enthusiast, an avid motorcycle rider, and a very generous man with a heart of gold. 

Allan is survived by his three sons Todd A. Armstrong, and Shannon G. Armstrong both of Shelby, Aaron S. (Tammy) Armstrong of Blythewood, SC; five grandchildren Joshua, David, Jacob, Spencer, and Remington Armstrong; one sister Kristine Hassinger of FL; one half-brother Lance (Pat) Armstrong of Wellington, OH; one half-sister Holly (Ron) Aqustin of FL; former wife Suzon (Ed) Grove of Galion; special friend Connie of Mansfield and his canine companion Nala.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and infant grandson Kip Isaac Armstrong.

Services will be held 7:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory. Pastor Doyal Peyton will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorial condolences may be made to the Shelby Little League or the Ronald McDonald House Charites.
