Welcome to the memorial page for

Robert E Bevier

February 21, 1951 ~ November 23, 2016 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Robert E. Bevier, age 65, resident of rural Shelby died Wednesday November 23, 2016 in Galion Community Hospital.

Born February 21, 1951 in Shelby to Walter E. and Delores (Schiefer) Bevier, he had been a lifelong Shelby area resident. He was a 1969 graduate of Shelby High School where he played on the Shelby Whippet football, baseball and basketball teams, winning two NOL championships in football and baseball.  He had attended Capital University where he played football, winning the Division Three Championship in 1970.

Bob had farmed for all of his life and eventually took over the operation of the family farm. In conjunction with raising livestock he also established and operated the Red Head Popcorn Co., distributing popcorn throughout Ohio and surrounding states.  Through Vogel Popcorn Company, he set up a popcorn processing and packaging facility on a co-operative farm in southern Russia. It was there he trained the local farmers to grow popcorn.

Bob's passion was anything related to baseball whether it be playing, watching or collecting memorabilia. He was a huge Cleveland Indians fan. His true joy in life, however, was his family, especially his two granddaughters.

Surviving are his wife Sally (LeMunyon) Bevier, whom he married February 26, 1972; two sons Gary (Chrissy) Bevier of Shelby and Kyle (Michelle) Bevier of Green Acres, Fla.; two granddaughters Ramsey Chamberlain and Brooklyn Bevier; one sister Carol A. Bevier of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Jamie Chamberlain.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday November 29, 2016 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Reverend George Johnson of the First Church of God will officiate with interment in Ganges Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
