To the family of Mr. Somerville: I send heartfelt sympathy for your loss and wish to send my praise and gratitude for all I learned from my mentor, Mr. Somerville. I graduated in 1962! For many years thereafter I continued my own teaching of dance in higher education, working with many different live musical ensembles in choreographic projects. His knowledge and enthusiasm was always with me and still remains today! I send you prayers and best wishes.

I'm so sorry about your loss. Mr. Somerville made a real difference in my life in helping me develop a great love - if not great talent - for music. He will be greatly missed by many.

My sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one.   Find strength and comfort from God.  At  2 Corinthians  1:3, 4  it describes God as "the God of all comfort who comfort us in all our trials".  This promise assures the family that by turning to God you can receive help during this difficult time. The bible also promises that soon death will be no more Revelation 21: 3, 4 and the hope of a resurrection John 5:28, 29.

What memories we have of Dwight! As we were both in band through high school, we will never forget the hard work, rewards, and fun we had!
God bless all of your family and grant you peace.

So very sorry for your family's extreme loss. I was in the SHS band and graduated in1976 (Trombone). I still love to play and am in both Mid Ohio Community Band and Ashland Community Band. I would never have gotten as far without the excellent direction from Mr. Somerville. I remember when the band last got together and he got up on his podium (as he always did) and he said, Alright knock it off! We all laughed because it was just like yesterday when we were in band so many years ago. I also got to see him at Raemelton Ther. Equestrian Horse Farm not too long ago. God Bless you and yours, Sallie Bricker Barley

Dear Deloris, Lynn and David,
I am so sorry to hear about Dwight's death. Dwight had a tremendous impact on me personally, both as a wonderful friend of my family and as the inspiring leader of the Whippet band in high school. I owe my lifetime love of music to him, and I have treasured his friendship through the years. I will miss his smile and his humor, but I will always have the dedication to achieving the very best that he instilled in me.

I was a lousy music student but, still, to this day appreciate music because of Mr. Somerville! Thinking back of the great teachers I had , he was among the best! Always enthusiastic and full of life. May his journey continue and the music play on!

Grateful for the personal and professional standards represented in the life of Dwight Somerville. He will be remembered as one fine gentleman! I loved his ability to share a "story" with that wry smile and twinkle in his eye.

and as I mounted the hill,
the music in my heart I bore,
long after I could hear it no more." - Thom and Wendy
