Kathy Marie Scherer

Kathy Marie Scherer, age 56, of Shelby died Saturday May 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 10, 1960 in Shelby to Eugene and Catherine (Augustine) Vogt, she had been a Shelby area resident for the majority of her life. She was a graduate of Shelby High School Class of '78 and was the administrative assistant at Foundations for Living in Mansfield. Kathy was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and loved camping and spending time in the outdoors. Kathy was a very loving wife, mother and sister and was devoted to her job.

She is survived by her husband, Robbin L. Scherer, whom she married August 14, 1982; two sons, Michael (Tiffany) Scherer of Bucyrus and Kevin Scherer of Shiloh; daughter, Jennifer Scherer of Cambridge, MA; brother, Frank (Vicki Poffenbaugh) Vogt of Shelby; sister, Debra (Allen) Ehlers of Dublin; brother, Greg (Sharon) Vogt of Shelby; father-in-law, Robert "Doc" Scherer; brother-in-law, Joe Scherer; sister-in-law, Barb Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and mother-in-law, Mary Lou Scherer.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday May 11, 2016 at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where Father James Sanford will officiate. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday from 5;00 - 8:00 PM, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 PM. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial expressions may be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
