What a beautiful person, Leslie. I can't remember Leslie without her smile, which made you know she cared about you. A caring, giving person who made others better merely because she was present. A wonderful, caring woman, whose memory will guide me toward being a better human being.

I am so so sorry I did not see the obituary for Lesli until now! I feel so bad that I did not know until now. Our sincere condolences to you and the entire family. Lesli was such an awesome lady and was so kind and compassionate helping with the funerals of Ron's mom and dad. She always had a kind word and a smile on her face and in her voice. I just cannot say enough about the sweet person she was. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you!!

There are no words that express the loss of my beloved Sister but there are words to thank all of you who have pored out your hearts,thoughts,prayers and deeds. Thank you from the bottoms of our souls. Aside of being the awesome woman Les has carried on the tradition of caring that has been a part of the Barkdull Funeral Home for six generations. We all grew up surrounded by the compassion for our community but only a few stepped up to take the reigns and I'm so proud of all of them. I am so sorry to hear that Leslie lost her battle with cancer. I was a lucky survivor of ovarian cancer and thank God every day that I beat it. She and I had several conversations about surviving but I am so sad she left us so soon. My heart goes out to her family and close friends. I am sure she is in heaven smiling that beautiful smile down on everyone she touched.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Leslie on the personal level as most, but for the few hours I got to spend with her will stay with me forever. She was truly my angel at one of the most difficult times. Arranging a funeral and just having to deal with that responsibility was hard. She was so comforting and understanding and helpful. I could definitely see and feel God's love radiating from her. She shared her story with me and I was amazed at her strength and acceptance of her illness. Truly and inspiration. What an extraordinary woman!

When my father died, it was Lesli with whom I first spoke. I didn't realize Barkdull's had a woman in their midst! She was so wonderful and caring. She never once handed me a platitude or callous or uncaring remark. Instead, she was compassionate, thoughtful, and added light and tenderness to my immense sadness. I am stunned that she is gone. If she treated a virtual stranger like family, it is impossible to fathom how she treated family. Please know how many lives she touched, what a difference she made in such a short amount of time. Betty I am so sorry. Leslie was such a caring and loving woman thanks to the way you and Dick raised her. I know this is redundant but now she is at peace and free to run around freely. My prayers are with you and your family.
