Robert M Canright

Robert M. Canright, age 85, resident of Shelby and longtime Columbus resident died Friday, March 4, 2016. 

Born September 29, 1930 in Delaware, Ohio to Harry J. and Helen M. (Hiteshew) Canright he had been a Columbus area resident the majority of his life moving to Shelby in 2007. Mr. Canright graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1952 with a B.A. in accounting. Mr. Canright retired from Xerox in Columbus where he was a purchasing manager. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force he served during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Canright was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Columbus, where he served as an elder and Westminister Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, FL where he was a member of the choir.

An avid Ohio State fan, Bob rarely missed a televised game.  He enjoyed playing bridge, taking cruises and spending his summers at their summer home in Canada and winters in Bradenton, Florida.

Survivors include his three children Robert "Mark" (Carol) Canright, of Huffman, TX, Marchelle "Shelley" (Michael) Medsker, of Washington D.C and Lynnette (Jerry) Roth, of Shelby. Seven grandchildren Shawn (Phaedra) Canright, Christina (Josh) Jackson, Tara (Chase) Bennett, Nikki (Curt) Keller, Alison, Ashleigh and Rachael Roth. Seven great grandchildren Curtis and Haylee Canright; Angelina, Cole and Abigail Jackson; and Emilee and Logan Bennett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Dunnett Canright, whom he wed June 10, 1951.

Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory Wednesday, March 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio with calling hours one hours, prior from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. Following the 2:00 PM Memorial service,  Reverend Phyllis Heffner will officiate with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Shelby or St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Columbus.
