Penny Marie Murray

Penny M. Murray, age 75, resident of Shelby passed away on Sunday August 23, 2015 in the loving care of Elmcroft, Ontario and Hospice of North Central Ohio, Ashland.

She was born August 5, 1940 in Mansfield to Vernon & Jean (Dunlap) Milligan and had been a long time resident of Shelby. She was a 1958 graduate of Mansfield Senior High.

Penny was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and of the Bunka Group at the Marvin Memorial Library. She also volunteered at the Ohio Health Shelby Hospital Guild in the gift shop and at the Salvation Army Volunteers of America, preparing baby doll baskets to give away during their Christmas program. She was also a volunteer at the Oak Hill Cottage in Mansfield and had been employed part time with 4S Chocolatiers. Penny took pride in being a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who cherished spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Alex (Dawn) Murray, Mike (Carrie) Murray and Jeff (Amy) Murray all of Shelby; her beloved grandchildren, Samantha of Mt. Dora, FL, Grayson, Devon, Ben and Dan Murray all of Shelby; her two sisters, Linda (Larry) Armintrout of Shelby and Dana Milligan of Leesburg, FL; sisters-in-law, Peg (Lee) Welker of Plymouth, Kathy (Harold) Ward of Conneaut, OH and brother-in-law, Jim (Linda) Murray of Port Orange, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alexander P. Murrary, who passed away in 2014 and her in-laws Alex and Catherine Murray.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday August 27, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby where Father Jim Sanford will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 PM. A private burial will be held at a later date at Mansfield Memorial Park. In place of flowers, memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association (1100 Dennison Ave., Columbus, OH 43201).
