Services

What to Do Immediately

If a loved one passes away at home or outside of a medical facility, the first step is to contact emergency services to begin the necessary arrangements. If they were under the care of a doctor, it’s also helpful to reach out to them.

If the passing occurs in a hospital or care facility, the staff will notify the appropriate authorities. Should you have already chosen a funeral home, they will contact us directly to coordinate the next steps.

The professionals involved will assist with the medical certificate and any required paperwork.

We understand that this can be a difficult and overwhelming time, and we’re here to provide support and guidance. If you’re uncertain about the next steps, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time, day or night.

In the Days That Follow

In the initial days, it’s important to notify close family and friends, either through personal calls or by sharing a death notice. If this task feels overwhelming, it's perfectly okay to ask a trusted loved one to assist with these calls.

This is also the time to review any funeral arrangements your loved one may have made and to meet with a funeral director to begin planning the service. If no pre-arrangements were made, you may want to start considering some key decisions.

You don’t have to make all the decisions at once. We are here to help you explore your options and provide the support you need. Reach out when you’re ready, and we’ll guide you through each step.

What Happens During Our Meeting

When you meet with a member of our team to begin making arrangements, we’ll provide a general price list to help you understand the costs of the available services.

We’ll also take time to learn more about your loved one—their personality, their story, and the memories you wish to honor. This is your opportunity to share ideas, talk about their life, and highlight what made them unique. We’ll use everything you share to create a personalized service that truly reflects their legacy. Our goal is to make this process as smooth as possible, and we are honored to guide you through each step.

Common Questions

When I call, will someone come right away?

Yes, if you request immediate assistance, someone will respond right away. If your family would prefer to spend a short amount of time with your loved one to say goodbye, that is completely acceptable. Your funeral director will arrive when the timing feels right for you.

Why have a public viewing?

Viewing is an important part of many cultural and ethnic traditions. Many grief professionals believe it can help with the grieving process by allowing the bereaved to acknowledge the reality of the loss. Viewing may also be appropriate for children, provided the experience is explained in advance and participation is completely voluntary.

What is memorialization for a cremation?

You may choose to have the urn placed in the ground, often with the option of a bronze memorial or monument. Many cemeteries also offer cremation niches within columbariums, providing the beauty of a mausoleum setting with the option of above-ground placement. In addition, some cemeteries feature scattering gardens—peaceful, landscaped spaces where family and friends can gather, reflect, and remember.
